New Mobility Bicycle presented to the School from Variety Ireland

St Patrick’s NS would like to thank Variety – The Children’s Charity of Ireland for choosing our school to receive a special mobility tricycle provided by Tomcat SNI Ltd valued at €5000.  This mobility tricycle will provide support to children with physical challenges, allowing them to engage in cycling activities that promote independence and physical well-being. The school will use the tricycle to enable children to participate in outdoor activities, enhancing their mobility, coordination, and confidence.

This generous donation is part of their “All Ireland Disability Cycling Partnership” initiative which is designed to bring organisations together from counties both north and south, who support children with additional needs.

Mrs Orla  Walsh and the Barry family (Brendan, Nicola, Shauna  3rd Class and Michael 1st Class), who represented our school’s families, travelled to Omagh on Saturday 14th December to accept the bike from Variety Ireland  on behalf of the school. Guest speaker on the day was Bertie Aherne, former Taoiseach who spoke to the groups there representing each of the twelve counties who each received a special mobility tricycle. It took place in the Memorial Garden in Omagh.

On behalf of everyone in St. Patrick’s NS we would like to thank Variety Ireland for choosing our school.
If you would like to learn more about the charity you can find details at the following website: https://varietyireland.org/

Pyjama Day in School

We had a pyjama day on Friday 6th December to mark the Late Late Toy Show and our Kevin’s participation in it.  We raised €250 for Ukrainian children’s wellbeing during our pyjama day.  We had lots of fun and some staff even participated too.

Past pupils visit after winning competitions

Conor McGowan and Conor McCabe won Junior Enterprise Final for Leitrim and Best Innovation award in Junior Enterprise All Ireland. The boys are in 2nd year in Drumshanbo Vocational School.  They designed and manufactured tractor lights which are on sale in McGowans garage and Ardcolm Motor Factors.  We are very proud of their achievements.

Kate Kenny and Aimee Gillard won the European Parliament Ambassador School Programme (EPAS).  They wrote a piece of writing outlining why they should be chosen for the trip to Brussles, their motivation for wanting to go and how they would communicate what they learned with their peers on their return.  Both girls are Transition Year students in DVS.

We were delighted to have the four students back to showcase their awards and success.
